Toshiba Qosmio G30 laptop is the world’s first PC to integrate an HD DVD-ROM drive, also known as the blu-ray drive, with a slim-type drive only 12.7 mm high and it was achieved with on-drive optical system with a single objective lens able to read HD DVD-ROM discs and read and write to DVDs and CDs.

Toshiba had developed this format, which is competing with Sony’s Blu-Ray format to become the standard for the storage requirement of data intensive fields. This format was introduced in the market just a couple of weeks ago with Toshiba selling the HD DVD players in the market.

Being DVD ROM, the optical drive does not support DVD burning but it is backward compatible with DVD and CD standards, allowing DVD and CD writing on prevailing medias, with support for dual-layer writing at 2.4x and DVD-RAM at 3x.

Toshiba Qosmino G30 laptop also offers Integrated 802.11 a/b/g wireless connection, integrated Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), Built-in 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN connection and 56Kbps V.92 Data/Fax Modem.
